All About The Queen

Cris Napierski claimed the coveted title of "Paleo Queen," in last month's gym wide Paleo Challenge. If you think you don't know Cris, you're probably wrong. You do know her, you just don't recognize her! Cris has had some truly amazing results thanks to religious WOD's and completely changing her family's eating habits. She literally looks like a new person!

Cris says she loves and hates everything about Crossfit equally.

(Wait, what? Did I read that right?)

Cris hates running, but loves how she feels when she finishes. She still gets really intimidated and nervous when lifting heavy weights, but loves the feeling of accomplishment she gets as soon as she racks the bar. She also, like the rest of us, hates being the last one to finish a WOD, but loves knowing she went faster than she expected to, and the way everyone cheers her on every step of the way.

Before coming to Legitimus, Cris spent some time at a local bootcamp where she saw some results in the beginning, but began to dread her workouts in such an impersonal environment. Cris however, felt compelled to continue, and ride out her "stupid contract," but knew for sure that something was missing (she's pretty sure no one knew her name, even after months of attending!).

After eventually leaving the bootcamp, Cris struggled to find a place where she "fit" fitness wise, and at one point remembers thinking, "Well, maybe this is just how my body is supposed to be, maybe exercise just isn’t for me.” A short while later she found Crossfit Legitimus, and the rest is history.

Cris says she has found a real community in CFL. She truly appreciates that all Legitimus members have real busy lives, with real busy families (just like hers), but still find the time to make fitness and nutrition a top priority. Cris sounds almost surprised when she talks about how the members at CFL not only know her name, but the names of her children and husband as well.

Crossfit has changed the lives of Cris' entire family, who now read labels, and go to the fridge for a snack, instead of the pantry for something processed. They also request specific Paleo meals for dinner (Everyday Paleo meatloaf, meatballs, and stuffed peppers are family favorites!), and prefer blueberries to "fruit" snacks! Cris' 15 year old son and husband both plan to join CFL in the next few weeks, and her 9 year old is dying to be a Crossfit Kid! At home changes like these keep Cris motivated and inspired to keep coming back for more.

What else inspires her?? The fitness abilities of other members, who push Cris to lift more, move faster, and eat better. Cris admits that she too, sees a difference in herself since she first became a Legitimus member, and every once in awhile, even inspires herself!

You inspire us too Cris! Keep up the good work!

Getting to Know… The Other Jen!

Jen Lownik has officially drank the Kool-Aid.

Before coming to CFL, Jen watched Crossfit videos of everyday people and mothers just like her, doing amazing things with their bodies; and she wanted in on the action.

Three months ago she woke up and decided to try a free class at Legitimus, even though, like most of us, she was slightly intimidated.

Looking back, Jen laughs at her fears, and loves the results she sees from Crossfit. Jen admits she still groans before a WOD with Wall Ball, or Turkish Get Up’s; but the feeling of accomplishment when the clock runs out, continues to leave her hungry for more.

Jen fondly calls Crossfit Legitimus, “A whole new world,” (awwww); and like many others, says she had spent years being active with people who never even knew her name!!

Now, Jen appreciates that “beginners and amazing athletes” alike cheer her on, pushing her to limits she didn’t think possible. Jen credits her motivation to keep coming back to the other inspiring members in the gym, fantastic coaches (who actually care about her fitness goals), and good old fashioned results!

If you don’t know Jen yet, keep your eye out for her pink Inov-8’s, her two great kids, and her can-do attitude! If you’re still not sure who she is, Jen is the one who leaves every WOD with a big sweaty smile plastered on her face… promising to come back tomorrow for more!!

Welcome Jen!

Welcome!

Unless you've been wodding with your eyes closed (not recommended), you have probably noticed that there are a bunch of new faces at Legitimus.

In case you haven't had the opportunity to meet these two, this is Dave and Kat.

You've probably seen their awesome tattoos, five finger vibrams, and two children at the evening classes, but I bet you didn't know....

That they have been Crossfitting since April, and came to Legitimus this past month from Kaulike Crossfit in Litchfield.

Prior to Crossfitting, Kat ran two, yes TWO, marathons! Even though she insists she really didn't work out at all unless she was in training for her 26.2 mile trek (no big deal).

Dave says he weight lifted on and off, but has never seen results like Crossfit and Paleo have given him. That's right, these folks are strict Paleo. In fact, Dave has lost an amazing 57 pounds since they went "caveman" in May (yes, as in 8 weeks ago)!

Watch out for these two... they are just getting started and have already seen huge changes in themselves and their lives!

Make sure to say "Hi", and welcome them to the family!

MURPH

What a great day at CFL.  We had over 37 people participating and helping during the WOD.  Visitors from Yankee CrossFit and CrossFit Strongtown came out to show their support.  We had several first timers and some amazing performances.

The WOD was dedicated in memory to a fallen soldier.  Everyone came out wearing Red in support of Jen Lowniks nephew.  He was three years old and lost his life this past year to child hood leukemia.  His favorite color was Red so we all put some on to show our support.

Our community and support for each other has grown tremendously in just a short time.  Keep up the great work and smiles!
